Reno Jam On It

8th Grade Girls Blue

Coach Melissa and her Blue team headed to Reno on a mission. They practice day in and day out with the Black Team, and this was their time to show how all that hard work can produce amazing results in the end! The ladies played 2 scrimmage games, winning both, and also took their first 2 tournament games without too much difficulty, leading to an amazing Semi-Final match up.

HD Blue’s semi-final game was won in triple overtime with a remarkable shot from Rene Routhier to go up 2 points, and 2 free throws from Jessie Rollinger (Who flew in to be a part of the tournament!) to seal the win. The Championship game was back and forth the entire game. Renee hit a jumper with 2 seconds left to tie the game, sending it into overtime. From there the HD Blue ladies took control and ended up winning by 7 in Overtime.

It was an all around effort from every player on the team. Their passion, intensity and fight got them to the finish line and Coach Sham and Coach Melissa could not be more proud of the team and their effort to settle for nothing less than first place!!!! Ali Snooks was a definite MVP stepping up with solid Defense, leadership and at least 8 points a game. Olivia Haney had 22 points one game and was a definite contributor to our success. The Team was made up of players from 6th through 8th grade: Lauren Brocke, Olivia Haney, Laura Irish, Sarah Mayer, Kayla Connelly, Jessie Rollinger, Ali Snooks, “Little Sarah” McClure, and Renee Routhier. Many of these ladies are now playing for their High School teams this summer and continuing to show the Hoop Dreams Spirit no matter what team or coach they play for! The coaches want to thank the parents and players for all of their time and support that made this an AWESOME way to end the Blue teams 2011 Spring season!
